About

Drawing on four decades of fundraising experience, Molly Hampton offers seasoned insight into campaign management and implementation, prospect engagement and cultivation, planned giving, major gift solicitation, and donor stewardship.

Molly joined The Compass Group in 2018 and has worked with a diverse client base including conservation, community- and economic-based, leadership and education, and advocacy organizations. Her roots are in both Rockland, Maine, and Lander, Wyoming, and she has successfully helped develop and manage campaigns ranging from the millions to the hundreds of millions. She is a coach, trainer, and partner to development and executive staff, as well as nonprofit boards.

Prior to joining Compass, Molly served as senior campaign advisor for The Nature Conservancy (TNC) World Office. Through the implementation of its $7 billion global campaign—the largest in its history—TNC involved all 55 state and country programs. Molly spent three years teaching and advising chapters around the world to successfully run campaigns at both local and global scales.

Molly’s experience also includes nearly a decade as director of development for The Nature Conservancy’s Wyoming Chapter. During her tenure, she led the staff and board development teams that collectively completed a $42 million campaign in 2014 and laid the groundwork for the Chapter’s subsequent multimillion dollar campaign. She also served on the executive team at the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) for more than 20 years.

Molly’s graduate thesis, Leadership Education Experiences for Family Foundations, examined succession planning and leadership development within family philanthropy, focusing on how emerging leaders identify and access growth opportunities. This interest in leadership and governance is reflected in her volunteer commitments: she currently serves on the board of the PRBB Foundation and has held prior board roles with Project Adventure, Leave No Trace, and the Association of Experiential Education Accreditation Council.

She holds a Master’s degree in Nonprofit and Education Leadership from Prescott College and completed her undergraduate studies at Kirkland College, College of the Atlantic, and the University of Montana.
