Marc Cousins

Marc Cousins joined The Compass Group in 2016, bringing a strategic focus on campaigns and the conducting of interviews, oversight of campaign operations, and support of the lead consultants in the provision of fundraising counsel.

Before transitioning to a consulting role, Marc worked in the independent school sector for more than two decades.  Most recently, he completed a 16-year career at St. James Academy as an educator, administrator, and athletic director.  During his tenure, he participated in two capital campaigns, successfully collaborating with colleagues and board members to bring a new science and technology wing to the campus, renovate theatre space, and enhance professional development for athletic staff.

Marc’s volunteer leadership with his alma mater continues to broaden his engagement and development experience. He has served as a member of the Blue and Gold Society, an Athletic Advisory Board of Goucher College, developing alumni engagement programs for alumni athletes and his leadership has contributed to a 30% increase in attendance at alumni weekend as well as a 20% increase in alumni giving.  Marc takes pride in working directly with students, often serving as a panelist or guest speaker to share industry insights in preparation for graduation.

Marc earned both a Master in Education Athletic Program Leadership and Administration degree and a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree from Goucher College.
